Every Jeep Compass comes with a 4x4 drive system as standard equipment. The Latitude and Limited use the Jeep Active Drive system — a full-time 4x4 setup with rear-axle disconnect for efficiency. The Trailhawk uses Jeep Active Drive Low, which adds a low-range setting with a 20:1 crawl ratio for genuine off-road capability.

All three trims include the Selec-Terrain traction management system. The Latitude and Limited get Auto, Snow, and Sand/Mud modes. The Trailhawk adds Rock mode and Hill Descent Control.
