Quick Answer: Chrysler has issued a recall (NHTSA 26V-189, Stellantis 06D) on approximately 253,481 model year 2022-2026 Pacifica and Voyager minivans because the side curtain airbags may not retain sufficient pressure during a side-impact crash. Parts are available and the repair is free under federal law. Check your VIN at mopar.com/recalls or call our service team at (320) 587-4748 to schedule.

Who’s Affected by This Recall

This recall covers approximately 253,481 vehicles across two Chrysler minivan models built over five model years:

  • 2022-2026 Chrysler Pacifica (gas and plug-in hybrid models)
  • 2022-2026 Chrysler Voyager

If you own a Pacifica or Voyager built in any of those model years, your vehicle may be included. Some vehicles within those model years have been excluded from the recall after individual VIN review, so the only way to know for sure is to run your specific Vehicle Identification Number through the official lookup tools.

Chrysler is mailing first-class notifications to all known owners, but those letters can take weeks to arrive. If you want to check now — especially if you bought your minivan used and may not be on the manufacturer’s mailing list — you can verify your VIN immediately at mopar.com/en-us/care/safety/recalls.html or nhtsa.gov/recalls.

What’s Wrong — And Why It Matters

The side curtain airbags in affected Pacifica and Voyager minivans may not retain enough pressure during deployment in a side-impact crash. Side curtain airbags are the long, narrow airbags that drop down from the headliner along the side windows when a side-impact crash is detected — they’re the primary protection against head injury and ejection through a side window.

When a curtain airbag deploys but loses pressure too quickly, it cannot do its primary job: keep an occupant’s head inside the vehicle. The defect specifically fails to meet the federal motor vehicle safety standard (FMVSS 226) that limits how far an occupant’s head can travel toward a side window during deployment. The risk is partial or complete ejection through a side window, with associated head and neck injuries.

This is a serious safety defect — particularly meaningful for a minivan, where children and family members regularly ride in the second and third rows along the side windows. Chrysler has not issued a “do not drive” advisory, so your minivan is safe to operate under normal conditions, but you should schedule the repair as soon as it’s reasonably possible.

What Chrysler Is Doing About It

The fix is straightforward: Chrysler will replace both side curtain airbags (left and right) with redesigned units that meet the federal pressure-retention requirements. Parts became available on May 14, 2026, so this is no longer a “wait for the remedy” situation — the repair can be performed now.

The replacement is a defined dealer-only procedure using genuine Mopar parts. You should never attempt this repair yourself or at an independent shop — airbag replacement requires specialized tools, manufacturer-controlled parts handling, and proper system reset procedures.

What We’re Doing at Jay Malone CDJR

At Jay Malone Motors in Hutchinson, our service team is set up to perform this recall on any 2022-2026 Pacifica or Voyager — regardless of where you bought the vehicle. Federal law requires any authorized Chrysler dealer to honor recall service for any owner, so used buyers and out-of-state transplants are equally welcome.

Here’s what to expect when you bring your minivan in:

  • Parts are in supply. Replacement curtain airbags are available, so we can typically order parts to your appointment and complete the work the same day you bring the vehicle in.
  • The repair takes about 1.6 hours of labor. For Pacifica Plug-In Hybrid models, we add a brief 12V power-down/power-up procedure, which adds a small amount of additional time.
  • The repair is completely free. Federal law requires manufacturers to remedy recalls at no charge, regardless of vehicle age, mileage, warranty status, or where you bought it.
  • We’ll provide documentation. When the work is complete, we’ll give you paperwork confirming the recall has been performed. Hang on to it — it matters if you sell the vehicle later.

What You Should Do Right Now

  1. Check your VIN. Use mopar.com/en-us/care/safety/recalls.html or nhtsa.gov/recalls. Your VIN is on the lower corner of your driver-side windshield, in the door jamb, or on your registration.
  2. If you’re affected, schedule the repair. Book online, call us at (320) 587-4748, or email service@jaymalonemotors.com. Mention recall 06D / 26V-189 when you reach out so we can have parts ready.
  3. Keep your documentation. We’ll provide proof the recall was completed when the work is done.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this recall service free?

Yes. Federal law requires manufacturers to repair safety recalls at no charge to the owner, regardless of where the vehicle was purchased, how old it is, or whether the factory warranty has expired. The only requirement is that your VIN is included in the recall campaign.

Is my minivan safe to drive until the repair?

Chrysler has not issued a “do not drive” advisory for this recall, so your vehicle is considered safe for normal operation. However, because the defect specifically affects performance during a side-impact crash, you should schedule the repair as soon as is reasonable rather than waiting indefinitely.

How long does the repair take?

The official labor time is about 1.6 hours to replace both curtain airbags. For Pacifica plug-in hybrid models, the procedure adds a short 12-volt power-down step. Most customers can plan on the vehicle being at the dealership for a portion of the day.

Are parts actually available, or will I have to wait?

Parts are available. The remedy became available on May 14, 2026, so as of this writing the supply chain is set up to support the repair. When you call to schedule, we’ll confirm parts availability before booking your appointment.

I bought my Pacifica used — am I still covered?

Yes. Recall coverage follows the vehicle, not the owner. As long as your VIN is included in the recall campaign, you’re entitled to the free repair regardless of how many previous owners the vehicle has had or whether the previous owner was notified.

What if I bought my Pacifica somewhere else — can Jay Malone still do the recall?

Absolutely. Federal law requires any authorized Chrysler dealer to honor recall repairs for any owner. You do not have to return to the selling dealership.

Will recall service affect my warranty?

No. Recall repairs are performed by authorized Chrysler technicians using approved procedures and genuine parts, and they do not affect any factory or extended warranty coverage on your vehicle.
