Quick Answer
The 2027 Jeep® Grand Cherokee is offered in ten trims: Laredo, Laredo X, Laredo Altitude, Laredo Upland, Limited, Limited Altitude, Limited Reserve, Trailhawk, Overland, and Summit. The 3.6L Pentastar® V6 (293 hp, 260 lb-ft) is standard on Laredo and Laredo X; the 2.0L Hurricane 4 Turbo (324 hp, 332 lb-ft) is standard on every trim above those two. Both reach a best-in-class maximum towing capacity of 6,200 pounds when properly equipped. Two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive are both available, and the three-row Grand Cherokee L seats up to seven. Orders are open now, with Jeep expecting vehicles to reach dealerships in late 2026.
Jeep® describes the 2027 Grand Cherokee as introducing a new 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen for Laredo and Laredo X models, along with an expanded lineup that includes the new Overland and the return of a Trail Rated® favorite, the Grand Cherokee Trailhawk. That is the short version. Here is what it looks like trim by trim.
Laredo and Laredo X move up to a 10.1-inch infotainment screen, replacing the 8.4-inch unit that was standard before, and ride on a new 18-inch wheel design.
Laredo Altitude also gets the new 18-inch wheel design.
Laredo Upland is entirely new for 2027, built to bring off-road gear and Trailhawk-inspired looks at a value. It carries 18-inch Trailhawk-inspired wheels on 265/60R18 all-terrain tires, a Trailhawk-inspired front fascia with Vapor Gray tow hooks, a body-color painted roof, dark neutral gray exterior accents, and Capri leatherette and suede seats finished in Global Black.
Limited picks up a new 20-inch wheel design, a wireless charging pad, and rain-sensing wipers, and the Limited Reserve adds automatic power-folding mirrors.
Trailhawk and Overland both join the lineup as late-availability trims. Those two are covered in detail further down — they are the story of the 2027 model year.
On top of that, the color palette expands significantly. Six new finishes arrive later in the model year alongside two that are available from the start.
Ten trims, spanning from a straightforward family SUV to a dedicated off-road build to a genuinely premium flagship.
| Trim | Standard Engine | What Defines It |
|---|---|---|
| Laredo | 3.6L Pentastar V6 | The entry point, now with the 10.1-inch screen and new 18-inch wheels |
| Laredo X | 3.6L Pentastar V6 | Adds popular comfort equipment; the highest trim offering the V6 |
| Laredo Altitude | 2.0L Hurricane 4 Turbo | Darkened exterior treatment and the first trim with the turbo engine |
| Laredo Upland (new) | 2.0L Hurricane 4 Turbo | All-terrain tires, Trailhawk-inspired fascia, Vapor Gray tow hooks |
| Limited | 2.0L Hurricane 4 Turbo | New 20-inch wheels, wireless charging, rain-sensing wipers |
| Limited Altitude | 2.0L Hurricane 4 Turbo | Limited equipment with a blacked-out appearance treatment |
| Limited Reserve | 2.0L Hurricane 4 Turbo | Adds automatic power-folding mirrors and further refinement |
| Trailhawk | 2.0L Hurricane 4 Turbo | Trail Rated, the most off-road capable trim in the lineup |
| Overland | 2.0L Hurricane 4 Turbo | The premium off-road model, 21-inch wheels and Nappa leather |
| Summit | 2.0L Hurricane 4 Turbo | The luxury flagship of the Grand Cherokee lineup |
For most buyers around Hutchinson, the decision lands in one of three places. If the V6 matters to you, Laredo or Laredo X are where it lives. If you want the turbo without stepping into the premium tier, Laredo Altitude or the new Upland are the value plays — and the Upland is the one to look at if you spend real time on gravel. If you want capability, Trailhawk. If you want comfort, Limited through Summit.
The Trailhawk name has meant one thing since it was introduced in 2013: legitimate capability wrapped in a comfortable, accessible SUV package. For 2027 it carries the 2.0L Hurricane 4 Turbo paired with an eight-speed automatic, and the equipment list is the real story.
That combination produces a maximum best-in-class ground clearance of 11.4 inches and best-in-class approach, breakover, and departure angles of 36, 24.4, and 30.3 degrees respectively. As a Trail Rated® vehicle, the Trailhawk is engineered and tested across traction, water fording, maneuverability, articulation, and ground clearance.
Here is the part I think matters most for buyers in our area: none of that capability costs you towing. The Trailhawk still reaches the best-in-class maximum of 6,200 pounds and includes a standard Trailer Tow Package. You are not choosing between a trail rig and a tow vehicle.
We go deeper on all of it in our 2027 Grand Cherokee Trailhawk breakdown, including how it stacks up against other off-road-oriented midsize SUVs.
Visually, the Trailhawk runs an optimized front fascia that improves the approach angle, signature red tow hooks, a matte black glare-resistant hood decal with red Trailhawk detailing, 18-inch Granite Crystal wheels, a rear Trailhawk badge with an additional red tow hook, and dark neutral metallic accents. Inside, genuine Nappa leather in Global Black with red accent stitching and a 12.3-inch infotainment display. Jeep’s Off-Road Pages display vehicle dynamics, gauges, pitch and roll, Selec-Terrain® settings, and suspension status.
The Overland celebrates 25 years as the premium off-road model — the configuration for buyers who want the capability without giving up the appointments.
Outside, a more aggressive front end distinguishes it from the rest of the lineup, with bright tow hooks, painted black lower bodywork, 21-inch machine-faced wheels with mid-gloss Granite Crystal pockets, a body-color painted roof, and Silver Silk exterior accents.
Inside, Nappa leather upholstery with pronounced Overland embossing on the front seat backs, heated and ventilated front seats, standard heated rear seats, and a unique An-Teak Satin Chrome accent with a Liquid Chrome applique tracer.
The off-road hardware is genuine: Quadra-Trac II® with a two-speed transfer case, class-exclusive Quadra-Lift® air suspension, Hill-descent Control, and Semi-Active Damping. The Overland also gains a standard 360-degree surround view camera with washer, and carries the same Off-Road Pages as the Trailhawk.
Two gas engines, and which one you get is determined by trim rather than chosen separately.
| Engine | Output | Estimated MPG | Standard On |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3.6L Pentastar® V6 | 293 hp / 260 lb-ft | 19 city / 26 highway | Laredo and Laredo X |
| 2.0L Hurricane 4 Turbo | 324 hp / 332 lb-ft | 21 city / 27 highway | All trims except Laredo and Laredo X |
The Pentastar® V6 features Electronic Stop/Start, which cuts fuel flow and shuts the engine down when the vehicle stops. It is the engine most Grand Cherokee owners in this area already know.
The Hurricane 4 Turbo is the more interesting engine. Coupled with Jeep’s Gen IV automatic transmission, it features the industry’s first high-volume application of Turbulent Jet Ignition and achieves a segment-leading 162 horsepower per liter. Peak torque arrives at 3,000 rpm, which gives you faster response than previous gas-powered Grand Cherokee configurations, and the eight-speed automatic and torque converter improve low-speed control for crawling. It also delivers a driving range of 529 miles.
Both engines reach the same best-in-class maximum towing capacity of 6,200 pounds when properly equipped. The difference is how that tow feels under load, not the number itself.
Twelve exterior finishes, six of which arrive later in the model year.

Inside, Global Black is offered across the lineup, Wicker Beige is newly available on the Laredo, and the Summit offers Tupelo and Black.
We took a closer look at Fathom Blue on the 2027 Grand Cherokee if that one is on your list.
If one of the six late-availability colors is the one you want, that is the strongest single argument for ordering rather than waiting for something to land on the lot.
The two-row Grand Cherokee seats five. It measures 193.5 inches long, 70.8 inches tall, and 77.5 inches wide, with a 6,050-pound gross vehicle weight rating, a curb weight of 4,238 pounds, and an available payload of 1,280 pounds.
The three-row Grand Cherokee L seats up to seven. The L Summit measures 204.9 inches long at the same 77.5-inch width, and features second-row captain’s chairs with best-in-class second-row legroom plus two more seats in the third row. Second-row seats fold down and slide forward for third-row access.
The L also offers configuration features the two-row does not: an available Interior FamCam that lets front passengers check on the second and third rows through the Uconnect® 5 touchscreen, an available power-folding third-row bench, six USB ports with USB-A and USB-C connections in every row, and an available second-row console with dual-zone climate control and USB ports. Available Quad-Zone Automatic Temperature Control pairs with the second-row bucket seats.
Both share the 23-gallon fuel tank and both run on regular unleaded. Both are available in two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive, and both can be flat-towed when properly equipped — consult your Owner’s Manual for the correct procedure.
We go deeper on the three-row in our 2027 Grand Cherokee L guide, including third-row access, Interior FamCam, and how to decide between the two.
My honest framing: if you regularly carry more than five people, get the L and do not overthink it. If you carry five or fewer and want the tighter footprint for parking and gravel roads, the two-row is the better vehicle. The eleven inches of extra length is real when you are backing into a spot downtown.
Orders are open now. Jeep® has said it expects the 2027 Grand Cherokee to begin reaching dealerships in late 2026, with production at the Stellantis Detroit Assembly Complex facilities in Michigan. The Trailhawk and Overland are both listed as late-availability trims, which means they join later in the model year than the rest of the lineup.
If you are weighing whether to order a 2027 or buy a 2026 that is available now, we broke that decision down in 2027 vs. 2026: what is new.
We do not estimate delivery dates beyond what Jeep® publishes. Once your build has firm timing, you hear it from us directly rather than reading it here.
