2027 Jeep Wrangler Laredo with Laredo hood decals, bronze accents and the returning tan soft-top

If you are old enough to remember a Laredo badge on the side of a CJ or an early Wrangler, this one will stop you. Jeep brought the name back for 2027 as the ninth drop in the Twelve 4 Twelve series, and it did not do a half-measure: earth tones, a Gobi accent grille, bronze tow hooks, the tan soft-top people have been asking about for years, and 35-inch tires standard. It began as an Easter Jeep Safari concept and stayed remarkably close to it in production.

What is the 2027 Jeep Wrangler Laredo?

The Wrangler Laredo is a limited-edition Wrangler that revives one of the most recognizable nameplates in Jeep history. Jeep revealed it on July 12, 2026 as the ninth release in the yearlong Twelve 4 Twelve series. It is built on the Wrangler Willys foundation and is available in both two-door and four-door configurations.

What separates it from the other drops in the series is how much actual hardware comes with the styling. The Xtreme 35 Package is standard, which means 35-inch BFGoodrich KO2 tires, bronze beadlock-capable wheels and a 1-inch lift come on the vehicle rather than showing up as an option box. Jeep brand CEO Bob Broderdorf described the goal as creating something that stands apart while still delivering the proven, trail-rated capability customers count on.

Where does the Laredo name come from?

Laredo emerged in the early 1980s, in the final chapter of the CJ era, as a different interpretation of what a Jeep could be — 4x4 capability paired with distinctive styling, richer materials and more comfort, aimed at buyers who wanted adventure without giving up everything else. When the Wrangler replaced the CJ in 1987, Laredo carried forward as a defining trim, marking the brand’s shift from utilitarian workhorse to lifestyle icon.

The name comes from the American Southwest and the border city of Laredo, Texas — rugged terrain, long horizons, independent streak. That is the well Jeep went back to for the 2027 design, right down to the rodeo-era graphics.

What makes the Laredo exterior different?

Rich earth tones, purposeful graphics and bronze in place of the usual chrome or black. The specifics:

  • Standard Xtreme 35 Package — 35-inch BFGoodrich KO2 tires on bronze beadlock-capable wheels, with a 1-inch lift for added traction, ground clearance and durability
  • Unique Gobi accent grille for a warmer front-end identity
  • Laredo hood decals, center and side, with graphics drawn from archival designs
  • Bodyside decals that reinterpret the classic striping with sharper, more contemporary proportions
  • Rear lasso-style “4WD” decal
  • Bronze tow hooks, plus bronze-accented Jeep and Trail Rated® badging

What tops can you get on the Wrangler Laredo?

This is the headline for a lot of longtime Wrangler people. The iconic tan soft-top returns as a signature heritage element, executed with modern materials. Two other paths exist, and one depends on body style:

  • Tan soft-top — the returning signature look
  • Sky One-Touch powertop — available on the four-door only
  • Black hardtop — available on both two-door and four-door

Worth thinking through before you order. A soft-top looks right on this vehicle, but if it is your only vehicle and it lives outside through a Hutchinson January, a hardtop is warmer, quieter and better sealed. Plenty of our customers run a hardtop in winter and swap seasonally.

What is the Wrangler Laredo interior like?

Jeep calls it one of the most distinctive and richly crafted interiors ever offered on a Wrangler, and the material list holds up. The cabin is a predominantly Bison Brown environment carrying the exterior’s earth-tone theme inside.

  • Bison Brown Nappa leather seats with front heat and power adjust
  • Mayan Gold accent stitching throughout the cabin
  • Instrument panel surround, grab handle, door armrests and center console wrapped in Global Black for contrast
  • Rear swing gate plaque featuring the coordinates of Laredo, Texas
  • A custom center console badge tying the vehicle to its namesake
  • A subtle cowboy hat motif in the HVAC pad prints

How capable is the Laredo, and can it tow?

It is a Trail Rated® Wrangler built on the Willys foundation, and the standard Xtreme 35 Package is the part that matters most. Thirty-five-inch tires and a 1-inch lift from the factory means no aftermarket lift kit six months in, and the setup stays under factory warranty.

On towing: an available trailer hitch provides up to 3,500 lbs. That covers a small fishing boat, a pair of sleds, or a utility trailer. It does not cover a big pontoon or a loaded car hauler — if that is your use case, ask us about a Gladiator instead. For the rest of the lineup, start on our Jeep Wrangler page for Hutchinson, MN.

How does Laredo fit into the Twelve 4 Twelve program?

Twelve 4 Twelve is Jeep’s yearlong celebration of 85 years of off-road leadership: one limited-edition Wrangler revealed on the twelfth of each month, built in limited quantities, each with its own collectible Jeep duck. Laredo is drop nine, following the military-heritage Sarge, and the Laredo duck leans all the way into the theme — a tan cowboy hat with a star on the band, parked next to a neon Route 66 sign.
